This policy explains what information share.md collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep this simple — we collect only what we need to operate the service.
Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and name from Google. We use your email address as your account identifier.
Document content. We store the Markdown documents you upload, along with the organization, username, and slug you provide. Documents are associated with your account.
Comments. Comments you post on documents are stored and associated with your account.
Usage data. We use Ahoy, an open-source, server-side analytics library, to record events such as document views, sign-ins, document creates, and document updates. This data is stored in our database and is not sent to any third-party analytics service. Ahoy sets a first-party cookie to associate visits with sessions.
Server logs. Our web server logs standard request information including IP address, browser type, and timestamp. Logs are used for debugging and security monitoring.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own purposes.
Within your organization. Documents you upload are accessible to users within the same Google Workspace domain. Your email address (as a username) is visible in the document URL.
Legal requirements. We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in good faith belief that such disclosure is necessary to comply with legal process or protect the rights, property, or safety of share.md, its users, or the public.
We use Ahoy for server-side analytics. All analytics data is stored in our own database. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other third-party tracking services. No data is transmitted to external analytics providers.
All data is stored in PostgreSQL on servers located in the United States. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
We retain your account information and documents while your account is active. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days. If you wish to delete your account or specific documents, contact us at [email protected].
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, port, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the GDPR including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
share.md uses a first-party session cookie for authentication and a first-party cookie set by Ahoy for visit tracking. We do not use third-party cookies or advertising cookies.
share.md is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us to request deletion.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will indicate the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
